I just read that, he was  a big part of my love for music. I have quite a few of his albums, probably my favorite is the so called White Album. I saw him in Denver at the now gone Rainbow Music Hall and also at The Denver Auditorium. Great guitarist, I remember an interview with him talking about recording All Along the Watchtower, and he said after watch Jimi Hendrix that he would need to learn another instrument because he could never reach that level.

A lost treasure and at month shy of 90 he gave us some great memories. Also loved his work with Traffic in his early years.

maybe he can spend sometime with Jimi in guitarist heaven

wharfy, thanks for the awesome link!

@theo -You're welcome. Too bad that group didn't tour-Mick Fleetwood, Sammy Hagar, Michael McDonald, and Doobie Brothers members Tom Johnston, Pat Simmons, and John McFee. I would have gotten tix.

Amen to that Warfy. It would have been great if they had just done an album and a video. That was a lot of talent in one gathering.

Never heard of this orbit what ever it is but Dave Mason was the only good guitar player Traffic ever had and I'm a fan of theirs and Dave too. He was 3 mo old than me and would've turned 80 next mo not 90. R.I.P. Brother you were a good One.

@zx10 - Great opportunity to compare Mason's and Winwood's guitar stylings on Dear Mr. Fantasy, from Welcome to the Canteen. Both are playing Stratocasters. Mason is a technically powerful guitar player with more rhythmic emphasis in his solos. His arpeggio frills back-up Winwood's kinda pedestrian guitar solos.
