@slaw My house is pretty small, and the Stereo and home theater are all in the living room. I have had family living with me and as they move out, I am hoping to have a listening room where the Animals are not allowed.
I want to upgrade my Turntable to something heavier
I am about to retire from work. I would like to upgrade my turntable before I do this. I have a Pro-Ject, which I like a lot, but I have two big dogs. I have been considering something 1) heavier and 2) balanced. I have SourcePoint 10 Speakers driven by a PS Audio Stellar Amp. The Stelkar also offers Balanced inputs.
I am leaning towards the Pro-Ject X8 as being a good price with room for a better cartridge. I have considered VPI, but I don't care about upgrading. Once I am retired, this is it. Ideas or Suggestions?

@elliottbnewcombjr My house was built in 1969. The subfloor needs to be reinforced. But the floors can be like trampolines. My current TT was less than $600, and I do want a bit more control over the arm. I want to move to a better cartridge. Spending $800-$100 for a $600 TT seems off balance. I think a better Cart would just show the flaws of everything. Including the floors |
@dwette I am sure that costs more than my whole house. |
I just upgraded my turntable to a VPI Model One, with a Hana SH cartridge. I use a Quicksilver tube phono preamplifier. I already had the VPI Analog Speed Control. This is the best turntable in my 60 years of record collection and replay. It comes with a lifetime guarantee. The HW-40 ISOLATION FEET with the Sorbothane floating turntable make it immune to vibration. It has perfect imaging: The latest Bad Bunny album (won Grammy Award) is mixed with out-of-phase effects, which the VPI ONE recreates almost lateral to my sitting position. This imaging is equivalent to my digital system with an HQPLAYER. Aloha from Maui, Hawaii. |
