I read that as him just taking a riff at us audiophiles, reaffirming his opinion that sighted comparisons are not reliable and subject to biases (i.e. he hates Audioquest). There’s definitely nothing that’s going to ever change between our 2 camps, so I’m glad he stays over there. More than anything, I’m shocked he even bothered with a half-hearted listening. Usually it’s just measurements and then drop the component back in the post. His measurement hobby is very time consuming and doesn't afford time for listening.
Amir of ASR admitted 1 cable sounded better than the other. NOT CLICKBAIT
There is a recent thread inquiring about the Puritan PSM156, and someone lead to another product the Niagara 1200. Long story short. I come across a review of Amir admitting the "Generic" cable sound better than the Audioquest chain.
If 1 cable can sound better than another, and Amir has admitted to it. Is there really anything left to discuss except that we have been right all along?
Proof: Go to the "Listening Test" of the review.

@mulveling Your take is very fair. But there are 2 things that Amir did that really put the nail in the coffin 1) He used a headphone system to test. And just like he said "Headphones are much more useful to listen for small impairments since they block external noise and you can turn them up as much as you need to hear low level detail" The Ether CX is also no slouch. 2) He said "Not a typo" After his generic cable being better comment. As if to say "I'm serious guys". |
@samureyex Is there really anything else to discuss? YES, you seem to ignore in the very next sentence he says... " OK, not proof of anything It was a joke. He hasn't admitted to any such thing. |
