@grinnell. Iforgot to tell you to watch the Youtube video "Frank Zappa reggae guitar solo". Awesome.
Need help finding demo songs
Hi all!
I've been watching some interesting sound systems on YouTube, and they always play some kind of demo songs that show off the systems, but they never mention anything about what they're using to show off there systems. I'd like to find some of this music, but not being a listener of current rock music, or demo cds, are there any cds that you guys can recommend that will show off my system?

Hi @sid42 , There are two places to easily find some great recommendations. They may also help you find recordings you already have to test with. Crucially within each link you'll find not just tracks but what they test! 1. What HiFi has a great resource here for tons of test tracks with different musical styles and even with certain artists. 2. PS Audio's Paul's Picks are worth looking at 2014 and 2020, there are also lots of interesting articles and information on the PS Audio website home page under the 'Discover' tab. ENJOY! |
The replies about Qobuz playlists are spot on. Reddit is also a good option |
A quick Google will take you to a number of lists. Some of the big Audiophile websites and YouTubers have listed their recommendations and some added playlists to streaming services. I’d start with those and look to curate your own. As and when you hear a song/track that you think sounds great and demonstrates a certain attribute of your system, add it in. You are always better off with songs you are familiar with as that will help you measure new components. But don’t pick only songs that “sound amazing” as they might sound great on any gear. By this I mean there are songs that really push systems, speakers in particular. Try to look for those to add into the mix. perhaps share your playlist once you have one. Enjoy the hunt. |
