Moving Magnet Phono Cartridges

I probably sound like a broken record (no pun intended) but I still haven’t pulled the trigger on the Hana MC cartridge.  I have been considering a moving magnet cartridge instead and have been researching.   I haven’t found many reviews of the better ones online except for users comments.

I have been looking at the Audio Technica cartridges, Goldring and Ortofon.   I really wish I could find a Shure V15 or equivalent.  To the users of moving magnet cartridges, can you help me out or steer me in the right direction?

The first cartridge I bought was an Empire 2000Z which I thought was pretty exceptional at the time.  Many hours of happy listening.  But nobody here seems to give Empire much thought.  Any other Empire fans out there?

There’s a big Empire thread over at the audio karma forum. I have an EDR .9 playing right now. I have a few of the TOTL models 4000DIII, 2000Z and 1000ZE/X.  They made some pretty good cartridges and I think the EDR .9 was Empires best effort.

@wbs My very first cartridge was an Empire.  It came with my very first turntable bought together as a package deal in 1963 with paper route money.  The turntable was a Weathers Townsend, Lafayette Radio threw in the cartridge for 1 cent extra.  The integrated amp was a Lafayette, can't remember the model of either the cartridge or the amp.  Speakers were AR 4x.  I was 15 years old.  That was the beginning for me.

@travbrow Good to know there are other Empire folks.  I still have my 2000Z and played around with it a few years ago with a NOS stylus.  Still sounds pretty good.
