Hijiri and Acrolink look great. Always wanted to give them a try but never had the opportunity yet. Tiglon is a new one for me, I like the look of their higher models in particular. I might have to give that White Tiger LAN cable a try at some point.
Japanese cable brands
Inspired by a recent thread somewhere around here about brands from South Korea. I have always been fascinated by Japanese hifi gear. From vintage Sansui and Pioneer to more modern things like Esoteric DACs, TAD Labs speakers, everything from Luxman and Accuphase.
That got me thinking about cables. I've used some of the Esoteric Mexcel cables and loved them. I've always wanted to try Acrolink, and recently learned that they actually make all the Esoteric branded cables. Acoustic Revive has some very intriguing designs. I've heard great things about the cables offered by TAD Labs and just learned they are made by another Japanese brand called Tiglon. Turns out Tiglon is just now available in the US so I've got an inquiry in to try them out.
Anybody have experience with these or other high end cables from Japan? Availability seems to be the challenge for trying these out unless you live there. They seem to be extremely nice cables if you can get your hands on them.

@kodak805 Thank you, what an interesting cable that is. I bet it would sound just lovely in one of my systems where I am slowly converting to all Japanese cables now. My recent acquisition was the Tiglon TPL-2000L Pro network cable. Here’s a review that I enjoyed from the same publication that wrote about the Vondita-X https://highfidelity.pl/@main-1445&lang=en I totally agree with their conclusion, it is a very analog presentation, beautiful and engaging. I mentioned earlier how I also got ethernet cables from Audience, Hemmingway, and Wireworld to try out. The Audience was decent, not a great match in my system though and didn’t really separate itself from the crowd in any meaningful way. I didn’t really like the Wireworld, it was sort of bland and gray sounding. The Hemmingway was excellent, I really enjoyed that cable but the balance was a little off in my system. It was very fast and focused on bite or transient snap at the expense of some meat on the bones. Beautiful sound but not a good match in this system, probably elsewhere it would be amazing. Having compared some similar priced and more expensive options, I am now very satisfied with my Tiglon TPL-2000L Pro. Still might move up the ladder to the TPL-3000 at some point though, we’ll see how tempted I get. |
I've been really enjoying the Tiglon TPL-2000L Professional. So much so that I'm planning on using all Tiglon cables for a system I'm planning featuring all Japanese components. So many good options including Luxman, Esoteric, Accuphase, Air Tight, TAD, Audio Note, Technics, Soulnote, and more. It's only fitting I stick with cables also sourced from Japan. I'm also picking up the top TPL-3000 White Tiger which is a step up from my TPL-2000L Pro Ethernet cable. I'll do comparisons first but probably end up keeping and using both anyway. If the 3000 is better than the already amazing 2000 I will be very happy with it. |
