Accuphase DC-1000 Processor/DAC

After a recent thread on streamers I decided to look into DACs, particularly the Accuphase DC-1000.  Currently own an Accuphase DC-37 Processor/DAC . My Innuos Pulsar feeds the DC-37  via Innuos Phoenix USB out. The DC-37 feeds my Accuphase C2300 preamplifier via XLR.  Seeing that streaming is my only source for music,  I'm considering upgrading my DAC to the Accuphase DC-1000 and I'm wondering if this is an actual and noteworthy upgrade.

@fire_water I haven’t had the DP-770 for even 24 hours yet, but I can tell you it’s one amazing machine ❤️ I’ll write up a detailed review at some point, but rest assured the Accuphase design team knows what they are doing and made one heck of a player! I would not hesitate to get the standalone DAC if streaming is your only source. For me, I fell in love with physical media again after 8 years of variable success with streaming only systems. I do have a cheapie ifi Zen 3 Streamer on the way to handle background streaming and will let you know how that goes. The synergy with the C-2900 preamp and P-7500 amp is a match made in audio heaven. I would definitely stick with all Accuphase if I were you. Perfection on gain matching and overall voicing. Cheers!

@audiopacer the P7500 is an incredible amplifier! Yes Accuphase is incredible period. I have the Accuphase A-48S Class-A amplifier,  Accuphase C2300 preamplifier,  Accuphase DC-37 Processor/DAC and Innuos Pulsar Streamer.  The Accuphase DC-37 is quite good but the DC-1000 is better and I want the best DAC that Accuphase makes seeing that streaming is my ONLY source of music.

And speaking of streamers the Innuos Pulsar is an incredible Streamer and it works incredibly well with my Accuphase DAC.

@audiopacer when's your DP-770 arriving? I did some research and I want one too! Yesterday my internet was down so I had no music.  I don't have a CD transport or a TT and I can't store and play local files because I have an Innuos Pulsar that streams only.  So do I purchase the Accuphase DP-770 and buy cds, a TT and buy vinyl,  or move onto the Innuos Zen NG or Zenith NG which will enable me to stream and store and play local hi rez files? I could also buy an external SSD like the Crucial X9 Pro 4TB and store local hi rez files.

@fire_water I came to the conclusion recently that if you’re serious about sound quality and prioritize it over convenience, nothing beats physical media. Main reason for it is the quality of source material.

I would get an SACD player with USB input to use with your streamer. Best of both worlds.

@fire_water I got the DP-770 a week ago. I will write more when I have more time. It’s an amazing machine. I highly recommend it. I think keep your Innuos as it is right now, get a player and CDs - build your staple collection over time, then consider making a move to local storage playback. The DP-770 is in the exceptional category as far as DACS go and the combo CD/SACD integration is the icing on the cake. It’s so nice to just hit play and it always works. Being held hostage by various networking, music service (tidal, Qobuz) , and platform (Roon In particular) sucks. Too much software and API churn in the streaming only game.

more later gotta run

Cheers
