Ethet net to fiber optic to feed your streamer

I'm using a TP link Deco wireless mesh system to feed my streamer.  I wanted to add a Fiber Optic Cable Cord section to hopefully clean up any "hash" caused by my mesh system.

I was inspired by "Gabby" from youtube - https://youtu.be/ybtRqJt8Vo8?si=6kKCOU_W7iuS_Gaj

I was thinking about getting two Fiber to Ethernet Media Converters but have also looked at the Sonore opticalModule Deluxe.  I know this is a pretty niche subject and there are probably not many people who have these devises, but if anyone does, I'd love to hear your experience and thought.

Thanks - Stan

I think many, many members here have one version or another of what you are asking about.  I have not tried the Sonore devices, but many on here have and have written about them.   I am very happy with the results of interposing 2 very basic FMC (StarTech via Amazon  https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Gigabit-Ethernet-Fiber-Converter/dp/B011KH1O1U) with seemingly highly regarded Finsair SFP modules

https://www.amazon.com/Finisar-FTLF8519P3BNL-1000BASE-SX-Connector-Transceiver/dp/B00AM2ECU0

and Corning multimode fiber optic cable. (Make sure your fiber and SFP match — all either single mode or multi-mode .)

and then just get the shortest Ethernet cable you can manage to connect the FMC to your streamer. Lots of advice on here about whether you will benefit from a “fancy” Ethernet cable of just any well made and tested cable like this one https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-Cat6A-Flexible-Patch-Cable/dp/B0CKYL17K1.

I have not tried a fancier one, but i am toying with the idea of testing out the ones made by Veritas Cables.

(and there are varied views on whether your Ethernet cable should be shielded or whether it shouldn’t be.)

i moved my audio off the WiFi and have it hardwired (ISP is Quantum Fiber, Now part of ATT) via a really nice Ubiquiti Router (with Ethernet RJ45 and SFP slots) and separate Ubiquity  switch with 1 SFP slot and a bunch of RJ45s that i don’t use), but it sounds like you are happy with the WiFi and just want to get some fiber optic isolation. The above will handle that for you, but there are many other “audiophile” devices that will also accomplish this for you; whether the resultant sound quality is better I can’t tell you.\

quite a few threads on here an elsewhere discuss various options and products; see e.g., WBF — FMCs and more

good luck!

high quality built units, often for hifi applications -- like ether regens, sonore optical units, using linear power supplies and better fmc modules like those by finisar all make a meaningful sonic difference in my experience

Thanks for the feedback!

My home is made motly of three foot thick walls of cement.  Routing cable is impractical and wifi gets very sketchy by all the rebar.  I think I’ll try the ethernet media converter first and if it works well move up to the
Sonore.

I’m using the Ultrarendu by Sonore and it is fantastic.
