How Much Have You Spent On Cables Throughout The Years. I'm Shocked When I Checked.

I just checked the total cost of cables which I still own, all types of cables including spares. It's all recorded in an Excel sheet, actual price paid and not MSRP.

I'm shocked. It's a whopping sum of $22.4k. crying

I'm sure there would be people who have spent more. I have seriously overspent on cables though I still need to get another mains power cable before I call it a day, a rather costly one.

@gkelly  Thx!

@gdaddy1    I watched part of Amir’s video that was completely void of associated audio components, what music was used, room/acoustics or qualified listeners etc. All he had was a bunch of graphs/measurements that prove nothing about different sonic characteristics regarding the sound quality of the 2 cables. Has it ever occurred to you that Amir is financially capitalizing on the cable naysayers ignorance? He might be laughing at you!

Much more than $22K, over the years. It's not so bad if you can buy used and resell later for a decent % of your original cost. But if you buy some of today's mega-buck high end cables - new at or near MSRP - yeah you're gonna take a bath when you resell :(

I particularly like some of my solid-core silver cables (not cheap), but the way today's cables & tweaks are hyperbolically marketed, pseudo-science'd to death, and over-sold these days is...somewhat grotesque.

That said I'm continually amazed how our hobby has this ongoing issue with certain contentious people getting so upset about what SOMEONE ELSE spends on a product - there are other hobbies with far worse patterns that don't seem to have this problem.

@dayglow  Lets be very clear... it's a measurement of electrical current going through a wire. If both cables are transfering exactly the same there is NO difference.

The wire is connected to a driver that will recieve the exact same signal from both cables!! How can the driver, that responds to this current, produce something different when both are identical? It doesn't and all those graphs and charts show that as positive proof.

Your suggestion that Amir is finacially capitalizing on naysayers is silly. You offer no evidence and suggest this instead? Come on man.

@mulveling  I don't care what you do with your money or how much you spend. However, to suggest to other people that they should consider buying an expensive cable IS a disservice to the community for promoting a product with no evidence.

You're completely ridiculous. Go bug another hobby.
