Listening habits.

I was listening to tt and r2r decks from the middle to late 60’s. I went thru many upgrades for both the tt and r2r up until 8 years ago when I sold everything analog (tt, r2r) and have never looked back. Sacd from the late 1990’s and early 2000’s sounded every bit as good as analog. When you can rip and/or stream DSD music, the battle was over IMO. Then with your better dacs can accept dsd256 and your streaming software able to upsample everything to dsd256, just adds to the sq.

I’m sure many here still listen to CDs, but I think you have to admit, that with the rise of streaming and the Renaissance of analog, CDs are not as utilized as in the past.

I listen to all formats, vinyl--because i have lots of records over the years and enjoy the fuss over my turntables--CDs, because i stopped buying records at some points so have a lot of jazz and classical on CD, and streaming because it's there and a way to find and listen to music I don't have. I am unconcerned about sonic differences. They all sound good to me. Yes, some classic rock sounds better on LP than loudness war versions on Cd or streaming and some classical sounds better on digital or digital to vinyl, and jazz seems good in all formats, but I just put on things impulsively and treat all formats equally.

I started out in the early 1970's with vinyl and some cassettes, mostly ones that I recorded of albums.  I bought my first cd player around 1985.  I then went about 80% cd and some vinyl.  I honestly thought cd playback improved in the early 2000's and I really didn't buy much vinyl, but I never sold my albums.   Then, around 2010-ish I started back with albums and have continued since.  I did recently get into streaming, and I am a bit pre-occupied with that for the moment.
