Atlantic Technology SP-8000 inline with REL R-218 sub

I just recently found a Atlantic Technology SP-8000 to be use inline with my REL R-218 sub. This made a day and night difference not just flexibility but also better gain structure. I always felt REL, I am not sure if every other different model have this issue having weak or inadequate gain for a particular  level. My HSU STF-2 never had this issue wither it was ported. My REL gain was setting near max level and I couldn’t get enough "punch" if you really want to call it that. Yes it is so far the most musical sub I heard so far but being a sealed sub it should still be impactful. The SP-8000 fixed a few flaws I see in the rel. Ref level,  frequency  Q adjustment,  and most important, enough gain now.  

One more thing to add to this was that yes I tried speakon high level connection and was still getting inadequate level. BTW, I have low level input in the .1

@m-db Are you implying that the REL is just a woofer capable of reproducing those frequency? I can see that but mechanically it would still be a subwoofer. Sub-bass is just a terminology to represent a  certain bandwidth of those frequencies. Unless REL mentioned sub-bass as a marketing way of saying subwoofer, it is still a sub. 

The location of the sub of the REL is the same where i had the HSU. The SP-8000 could of benefit the STF-2 also. Placing the REL and the others subs I had in that position has work for me the best.  We cant change physics but we can manipulate to make it work to an advantage which in this case room nodes and placement.  I use another room tuning software other then REW to make it work. I have data to justify my results.

@m-db Im ok with with the response of the REL for music. Its more then acceptable for me. The Hsu STF was different but a good kind of different.

@highend64  I was simply going to suggest optimizing room integration focus afforded by audibly precise standing bass wave mode room location positioning of your -2dB HSU subwoofer. 

By referring to his -6dB products as "Sub-Bass Systems" Richard Edmund Lord delineated them from subwoofers.

This from the current owners of REL Acoustics Subwoofers website brochure. "I still like our original term Sub Bass System for its more complete description of what we do..." Whatever...

@m-db Thanks for the comment. The location of the in the room has always been jn the same place. My previous subs in the past and my current one will always be in the same place. I'll rather sacrifice volume so I can get a better sub integration with my speakers.
