Onkyo A-50 vs Buckeye Purifi 1ET6525SA

My wife is in love with the looks of the A-50. I'm thinking I might be better off with the Stereo Purifi Amp and a Wiim Ultra as the preamp for now. More power, possibly more robust. We have a CD Player and a cheap Audio Technica turntable for now. Speakers are BMR Towers, 4-6 ohm and 85 DB. Listening distance is about 9 feet in a 14 by 14 by 8 foot room.

 

What are your thoughts on the Onkyo vs the Buckeye? Which set up would you go with?

This will be only for music at least for now.

You were stressing over your whether your new amp would last a lifetime. Sounds like you're over that.

I am mostly. I think it will be fine, at least the power amp. I think both are going to last a long time. If it doesn't it will tell me I was right to want the Quad 33 and 303.

I am curious to hear how the Onkyo works out. I saw them on shopgoodwill many times and love those VU meters.

@parkergetdean  I got my P-80 and M-80 about two weeks ago. So far I absolutely love them. They feel very well put together. The knobs feel nice and they look beautiful. The sound has been fantastic as well. Right now have it connected to my tv and everything. So I’m driving everything through them. Streaming works great as well, probably thanks to the last firmware update. I was a bit worried but I couldn’t be happier.
