Onkyo A-50 vs Buckeye Purifi 1ET6525SA

My wife is in love with the looks of the A-50. I'm thinking I might be better off with the Stereo Purifi Amp and a Wiim Ultra as the preamp for now. More power, possibly more robust. We have a CD Player and a cheap Audio Technica turntable for now. Speakers are BMR Towers, 4-6 ohm and 85 DB. Listening distance is about 9 feet in a 14 by 14 by 8 foot room.

What are your thoughts on the Onkyo vs the Buckeye? Which set up would you go with?

This will be only for music at least for now.

Appreciate your input. Thank you.

Schiit recommends the Vidar 2 with the Saga 2, and I am happy with the combo. The Kara (Sonically identical to Kara F) would be better (friend has one), and I very well might end up with one. I find the Saga 2 a great bargain, and the Kara a more expensive good bargain. I also have the WiiM Ultra and preferred it with the Saga 2 rather than the internal preamp, though it was ok. I am not a fan/follower of ASR...I believe the importance of a preamp is often overlooked...

I think you have talked me into a Schiit dual Vidar with either a Saga or Kara preamp as a stand alone system. I'll get her one of those new JBL home theater things to handle the TV and all the other HDMI attached stuff.

Hopefully the dual Vidars are awesome with these speakers.

@glennewdick I had not seen that. I'll check.

@jl35 do your Vidars run hot? That's my only concern as they may end up having to go into a furniture audio video cabinet. There will be space around the amps of course.

My Vidar 2 does not run hot at all...does sit on an open top shelf, but is often played for hours at a time...speakers are Totem Sky Towers...
