amp I bought 3 days ago not powering on - electrical engineer advice wanted

I said "maybe a protection circuit?"

He said: "no, if it was that, it would NEVER turn on".

I said: "OK, sounds good, thank you".

Well, that can't have been the whole entire exchange between you and him. Did he give you an idea of how much / how long, and did you end up leaving the amp with him? 

You may want to bring your tech his favorite coffee and donut every morning. Just so he remembers you.

I believe the conversation went something like this;

I said "maybe a protection circuit?"

He said: "no, if it was that, it would NEVER turn on".

I said: "OK, sounds good, thank you".

He said: "Probably just the power switch. Why didn’t you just fix it yourself?"                

I said: "Because I’m mind bogglingly inept."

He said: "How so?"

I said: "Well, I have to sit down to chew gum and my shoes are Velcro. Laces are hard."          

He said: "I see. Um, what’s that string you’re holding?"

I said: "The other end is attached to my front door so I can find my house."

He said: "OK, then. Tell you what, you bring my favorite coffee and  donut every morning and I’ll be sure to take the cover off July latest."                  

I said: "Fair deal! I better buy more string..."
