Borresen C1 Standmounts

It is rare for me to make a post anymore, but I feel a need to express my opinion concerning the Borresen C1 stand mount speakers that my brother recently gifted me. I have been at this hobby for over 55 years and have experienced many speakers some I liked and some not so much. I recently read comments concerning the C1 specs and how terrible they are. I must say that over the course of my audiophile journey I have never heard specs, a lot of amplifiers have had great specs but didn't sound great same goes for speakers, they either sound good or they don't. Specs are specs and can be helpful but my ears recognize good sound not good specs. I can say that to my ears the Borresen C1's sound great regardless of their specs. I believe that there are far too many posts that are full of negativity and make sharing ideas and thoughts on stereo equipment not fun anymore. In my opinion the Borresen speakers are proving to be world class and Michael Borresen is a brilliant designer and deserves respect, just my opinion.

Do you think specs are good for pairing gear?  Sitting here thinking about that for all of two minutes, that seems to be a reasonable use for them.  But, I agree they won’t tell you much about how things sound in your room.  Enjoy the Borresens!

Those specs look pretty good to me. Specs should not be ignored when pairing amplification, but assumming that is sufficient it just comes down to whether you like the sound. I have only heard the Borreson speakers at shows, and found them a bit clinical for my tastes, but much of that could be due to the tracks played and the room. They look like great speakers, enjoy!

Ballhog, what you said here, i also think this negativity takes away the nice spirit of a hobby we all can enjoy. There are some nicely, gracefully presented views that differ from ours. And that can be good for us to enjoy our systems even more. And we can thank them for that. Ignore the negativity, post more positve stuff yourself, and focus on the positive stuff from others. It’s nice to hear your enjoying those speakers.
