Recommendation for a wall-mounted turntable light
I’m looking for a good light that I can use to illuminate my turntable. However, I live in California/earthquake country and don’t really want a light that’ll just sit on my audio rack in case if falls over and damages my turntable/tonearm/cartridge when things start to shake. So that kind of puts one of the UberLights out of the picture (although I love the Frame model and think it would look pretty awesome). I know that the Frame can be bolted to a surface, but I’m not about to drill holes in my Symposium Acoustics rack! I don't really want to clamp it to the rack either. So, I was thinking that there might be a light that could be wall mounted that might do the trick. I’ve looked around a bit but haven’t found anything that great, so I thought maybe someone here might have a suggestion.
Any ideas?
The Littlite is also available in a model with a clamp, and the alternative model with a base can be secured to any surface with carpet tape. It’s available with a 6", 12", and 18" gooseneck arm, and the brightness of the LED bulb is adjustable. It’s still used on the console in a lot of recording studios.

@dover I also thought about putting something on the wall that I could clamp an UberLight Flex or UberLight Frame to as well. I prefer the Frame, but I don't think it'll look that great mounted that way. I think it is really intended to 'frame' the table in the way it's usually shown in photos - at least I think it looks best like that. Maybe I'll consider the UberLight Flex again instead and see if I can figure out a way to attach it to the wall that is functional and looks good. @ervikingo Thanks for adding another vote for the UberLight Flex. As I mentioned above, I may go that route too, although I'd like to avoid clamping it directly to the rack. I just purchased a new Symposium Acoustics rack and it seems like that clamp could possibly do some cosmetic damage to it. |
Not a wall lamp, but it comes from the back. My friend has two TTs side by side, He has a tall gooseneck fixture , with a tubular lamp about 8" long. It is mounted in a clamp from the back of his rack, so the lamp is between the two TTs, and throws light sideways, to both TTs, and never in the way of your hands or blocking your view. Less glare because you are looking front to back and the light is going across side to side. Lift or remove either dust cover, no need to reposition the lamp. A dimmer that doesn’t hum would be nice, because as we age we need more light, but we are more sensitive to glare. |
