amp I bought 3 days ago not powering on - electrical engineer advice wanted

I bought a used Musical Fidelity A380 in good condition. Played it every day, worked fine.

Today it did not turn on. There were no sign of failure yesterday. Could it be a fuse or power supply?

Well, since I'm being ignored I withdraw my questions, your Honor.

I ask because if the wires coming off the power switch are utilizing connectors as opposed to being soldered, even someone as mind boggling inept as you can change the power switch. 😀

Those things are really inexpensive and worth a try before you take a hundreds of dollars loss. Or not.

Gosh, I hope my advice isn't too inept.

@parkergetdean 's amp sometimes powers up normally, and sometimes it gets stuck in protection mode. But either way, it always powers up, in the sense that it comes to life, some LEDs light up, etc.

That almost certainly rules out the power switch, which is most likely doing its job just fine.

@thecarpathian the truth is I wanted to respond. You are my favorite here. I just had no clue. I am so sorry for the appearance of ignoring you.

Is the power switch connected to the little board behind it or no?

yes I believe so

Are the power switch connections spade terminals or soldered?

soldered

even someone as mind boggling inept
