Need Amp Advice from the Collective

What amps are a synergistic fit with Maggie LRS+ that won't break my 76 year old back? I am currently using a Bryston 3B3, which at ~300 watts > 4 ohms has gobs of power, certainly more that I use, but it is a bit clinical, lacks midrange magic, is a tad bright, and could image better. See my profile for the rest of the system.

Pass Labs XA30.8 or X150.8, or Coda No.16 are obvious choices, and I'm certain they would sound great. But they are all 90-110 pounds! I wonder about some of the lower powered Coda's (S5.5, S150, S20) if they would have enough to fire up the Maggies? Comments?

I have been down the Class D road, and while they certainly have their charms, I don't think they will produce the magic I want.

My room is kind of large at 25 x 25 x 8, but the listening area is about 1/4 of that with the speakers about 8-10 feet from my listening position.

Thanks in advance!

@soix  I wouldn’t say it's unlimited but I’m willing to pay for the right solution. New or used in good condition.

@jjss49  Yes, the Hegal is in consideration (the H20), but indications are that while it would be an improvement over the Bryston in areas of concern, I’m not sure it will provide the luxurious and dimensional midrange I want.

@jjss49 @mike4597 I did have a pair of Van Alstine A/B monos a few years ago. I was unimpressed at the time but my system is completely different now. And their product line has undoubtedly changed as well. I will check them out. Thanks.

@gkelly  Good suggestion!

How about the Atma Sphere class D amps they get terrific reviews pair with a tube pre.

I used a Parasound integrated when I had 1.7 and the pairing was great.

good luck

@johnto  I did try his monos a few years ago. Different speakers though. I don’t think they have what I need for the Maggies. I think they need some class A grunt.

I have several amps I rotate including Pass. I recently purchased Nuprime evo 2 se mono blocks. They are class D and are marketed as competing with the best class A. These are 300w at 8 and 600 at 4. Grunt? All you can handle. The only other class D I’ve heard, where the top tier AGD AMPS.Those were absolutely in credible. I have a Krell K300i and it sounds like a tube amp with grunt. You also might look into the Electrocompaniet mono blocks if that is in your budget. I own of their integrated and it’s a very good sound amp, I don’t think that will give you what you want for Maggie’s.
