Sound becomes less open/smeared (less detailed)

Hi all.

Strange phenomena but when I play music (and leave my set on for days) the sound becomes less detailed (smeared). I know it's the pre amp (Bryston BP25).

After switching it off and then switching it on (after waiting a couple of minutes) the sound is more open and detailed.

It's strange because I also have the general experience when listening to stuff which has been turned on not long ago, sound is a little harsh and grainy at first. With use it gets more fluid and smooth. But my experience with this preamp is many times the opposite (but just after many hours).

Can someone explain this behaviour?

Components needs warm up , on and off will not help, maybe your Bryson need to go back to the manufacturer for check to be sure.

@kofibaffour : I am sure it's my pre Amp.
I guess it has to do with aging components.
But I hope someone can give me clues?

I am by no means an engineer, but what you describe sounds like some component in you preamp is reaching a saturation level and not normalizing or discharging as it should.  Most older devices need to be re-capped at some point.  Replacing old capacitors seems to be something that many audiophiles have done to their older power supplies more often than anything else.  I just had my old Linn LP12 PS re-capped a few months ago.  Since caps take up a charge and then discharge it in order to stabilize power, it may be the issue.
