What to do with very low offer on an item for sale

I am pretty new to selling on Audiogon and with a component I have received an offer of 25% of the price; I had chosen a price, including shipping, at the low end of what I have seen on HiFi shark.

If someone with more experience than I could help; do I ignore it or come back with a sensible (10% perhaps) discount on my price.

Thanks for advice

I suggest that you respond to all offers, regardless of how low. Just say "Offer refused." If you want to counter you can do that. The reason is that the potential buyer needs to know if his offer has been seen. You don't want to be accused of not being a serious seller.

It's a tough climate for private HiFi sales.   I sold a pair of speakers a while back. They were 11 months old, like new and are $2600 new.   I was hoping for $1500 , I took $1200 after many tire kickers.

Fortunately people are hot to spend their tax refunds so hang in there and hopefully you'll find a buyer.

I have had good luck on USAudiomart and Craigslist.
