For those that have heard Dutch & Dutch 8c..

For those that have heard the Dutch and Dutch 8c speakers, Are they more clinical sterile monitor sound or great musical speakers? Also, they have DSP to improve  room acoustics correct?

The reason I ask this is because I was considering upgrading my integrated amp and speakers to improve the sound in my apartment living room which is about 14'x14'. I thought by the time & cost for me to improve my integrated amp and speakers, I may be within a couple grand of getting some powered speakers like the D&D 8c that I could run off of my BS node 2i streamer since I stream all my music. ( I do have an old separate parasound dac, But let's remove that from the equation.).

Does anybody here see a synergistic combination of used items for sale (integrated amp and speakers) that would provide a better value and sound for an apartment system to stream music on?

Oh! My current system is a Yamaha A-S500 and Acoustic Energy Aegis 3 speakers. [I don't have/use a sub. It would just annoy apartment neighbors].

(and blusound node 2i, parasound zdac, etc)

I stream spotify premium for my listening,

[but do have a collection of flac files on hard drive (nas) that isn't even used anymore]. 

Thanks for your thoughts and input about the D&D 8c or other options.

I previously had Revel f208 but they overpowered the room and had a very "dry" bass. Something with a musical size/power less than the f208 and better sound than the AE Aegis3 would probably be ideal for my listening volume and neighbor's tolerance. Thanks!

No different than any other hi end company. Look at dartZeel as a recent example. Second question. No one knows.

This thread hasn't seen any activity in over a year, but I am curious to see if there are any new impressions/updates on the topics discussed here. 

I have small L-shaped room (imagine 11'x9' joined with 6'x6.5') with very poor acoustics (partially vaulted ceiling, asymmetry) and am hoping these might be just what the doctor ordered. Also considering Kii. 

Would love to hear updates from owners on how their experiences continue to evolve.

8c sound glorious, but Dutch & Dutch’s clueless management and inability to execute are concerns when you own $19k speakers that update themselves over Internet. The out-of-business-in-10-years scenario is quite plausible, but maybe Harman will buy them out first. Still... 8c sound glorious.

Consider Neumann, Genelec, ATC, Barefoot.

@daniel1976  Just found this post as I am researching used pricing so I can place my pair up for sale. 

I loved them in my 22x10x8 room, shooting down the long way. 

Now that I am in a 16x10x8 room, shooting the short way I cant get far enough away to get the soundstage I expect. I want more room sound, so moved to Reference 2. 

Streaming Spotify straight to them would be a perfect usecase. Even better now that they have the DSP BAACH plugin. I have used the Spotify and Roon streaming functions quite a bit while moving rooms, making system upgrades, or troubleshooting other gear. 

For the majority of my listening I use processing by Storm (Dirac ART) or Trinnov (Waveforming). So both the rear subs and the internal dsp of 8c are redundant for me.

@devinplombier that definitely is a worrisome scenario sad. 
I would have gotten a pair of ATCs already but the poor room acoustics give me major pause. I have a pair of Acoustic Energy AE1 Actives that are pulled ~2' from rear and side walls, and I still have imaging issues. Even in my best listening position I have a wall behind my right ear, and open space behind my left ear (due to the L shaped room dimensions). Because of that, I had to push the right speaker ~5 inches closer to the front wall than the left speaker, and toe it in extra to minimize the reflection behind my right ear all in order to get a properly placed center image.  That's why I am thinking really hard about the cardioid design. I doubt it will fix the issues, but at least it will help. Thoughts on whether this room is just a lost cause or the cardioid designs could be the ticket?
