So when is a SUT really needed?

Hey,

So, I been in this audiophile world for about 6 or 7 years now, at least that is when I bought a bit more serious equipment. Before that I had some stuff but wasn't that serious about it.

Still consider myself a newbie but have gained much more knowledge about this hobby compared to before.

But there is one piece of equipment that I hear about all the time but didn't really take a look at it before.

I am referring to the Step Up Transformer.

Just recently I started to read more about it and watch YT videos on it.

I also googled the purpose but it's just technical jargon and I rather get feedback from real people and users.

So, my understanding is that a SUT is used to control a MC Cart and it would work between the TT and Phono Amp connecting to the MM inputs (is that correct)?

But if you already have a Phono Preamp with MC adjustments, do you still need a SUT or is it used more in the situation where you may only have a MM preamp and want to use MC Carts?

Also, are all SUT's passive equipment, meaning they do not utilize a power plug or are there some that do?

Would there be reasons to use a SUT if you already have a good phono preamp with all the same adjustment options?

The llnis of generalisation : ''wich or what is the best''?

The paradox of ''set theory'' ; ''the set of all sets''.

One put the quantifier ''all'' in de place of ''subject '' of the sentence without

knowing what this means.

The ''formula'' is:

1, all x satisfy condition Fx and Gx . if one x does not satisfy conditon F and G

    then the whole generalisation is not true

2. some x are Fx and Gx (=existential quantifier) . To be true at list one x

    sould satisfi both condions

F and G are only examles of varibles ; one can write them also as

a,,b,c, ....n

Meaning and reference. All physicist  knew what ''Higs particle means'' in the

sence of contribution to the theory but nobody knew if it exist. Only after

prove in colider in Switserland the existance is proven . Not only assumed.

For example:; who knows how many AT cartidges are made.? How than

should one know ''which is the best''? One own, say, 5 and about them 

one can quantify. Say AT 180 is the best from those which I own.

'Grammar'' versus  ''logic''.

Is the expresion ''calling names'' legitimate according to Lew in'' American-

English'' grammar?

I don't belive tha logic is interested in ''insulting expressions''. What is even

more important according to  logic and science NAMES don't

have PREDICATIVE  FUNCTION. In SHORT ''they say nothing about

their beares''.. That  is WHY pridicates are needed which say something about

the posible BEARER O NAMES. While existential qvantifier ''some '' assume 

existence but the proven one. Pegasus , for example, flying  horse, does not

existe. What about GOD?

It was litersture not medicine. Dostojevski if you can remember? There is

nothing more you can learn from this forum. And regarding ''pulling your leg''

or ''setting you off '' is the story that Lew own more TT's than carts.

I think it really comes down to knowing what transformer your phono stage is using. A lot of them—probably most—are fitted with transformers that are just OK, or not really in line with the price of the unit. In those cases, a very good SUT can bring a clearly audible improvement.
