Do Preamps only Need Two Inputs in the New World?

The CD player is a 2015 650i convertible with x-drive I found in Florida with only 33k miles, has 44k now. Last year I needed new tires, got new aftermarket wheels also. Came with Bang & Olufsen Sound System. Ridiculous speaker that lifts up/lowers itself in the center of the dash. Just stay up, you idiot!

Usually we don’t care how many inputs, as long as there are “enough” for our sources. I have both analog and digital which is not uncommon. I also have a high quality vintage FM Tuner yet to plug in after sending it out for servicing to top shape. R2R is a dream, but not saying never. 

@maam522a I have 3 sources - DAC, table/phono and a reel deck that currently sits idle as I research overhaul options for it. 
My DAC has a terrific preamplifier built in. If I only had digital I wouldn’t need a preamplifier as it would take a really high end and high priced preamp to beat this. 
 

As to tuner…most if not all FM radio stations today play music from digital sources, have switched to HD radio and are available as internet radio stations. Good tuner is cool but the game kind of changed…no?
