recommends for interconnects?

Looking to replace old (and tired) MIT shotgun XLR interconnects between Mac 402 amp and Levinson pre and CD player.

there are so many cables and reviews and opinions out there. Looking for similar or slight improvement in sound, but under a few hundred dollars. Is that even possible?   1 meter with XLR terminating both ends.....

Ideas and thoughts much appreciated.

Mogami Platinum XLR.

Not as exciting a purchase as the boutique or underground cable makers but a fantastic balanced cable nonetheless. $2-$300 for a single pair.

+1 on ghdprentice on the value of DH Labs cables.

I have switched the digital side of my system(streamer and CD player used as transport to DAC and Ethernet from router) to DH Labs and it made a noticeable improvement in SQ over first tier above generic cables.  My DAC is connected to my preamp by XLR Silversmith Fideliums, replacing mid-tier Morrow cables and it was a significant improvement (I also replaced quality Mogami speaker cables with Silvermsith Fideliums, and the improvement was most remarkable). The Fideliums and in the $1000+ range per pair and, in my view, well worth it.   My preamp is connected to my monobloc amps, which have only RCA inputs, by Groneberg cables.  Although much less expensive than the Fideliums, my experience with DH Labs has been very positive.

I had MIT Shotgun cables for many years.  I replaced them a few years ago with Nordost cables, and the change was dramatic.  Audio stores and manufacturers usually hook their components up with Nordost cables to show off the benefits of their components.

@jafox is correct, you need to buy cables that make a difference.  For Nordost, Heimdall is the tipping point where everything at that level and above makes a big difference.  Cables are as important as components.  Look for used cables, they have a nice discount.  I've upgraded most of cables to Nordost Valhalla or Odin, but I got them used.  I went to an audio store a couple days ago to listen to Sonus Faber Olympica Nova V speakers, and they had them hooked up with Nordost Valhalla cables.

Cables make no objective difference. You said it in your own post, "..so many opinions" and that's all they are without hard evidence to back them uo. Save your money, cables NEVER get "tired".
