recommends for interconnects?

Looking to replace old (and tired) MIT shotgun XLR interconnects between Mac 402 amp and Levinson pre and CD player.

there are so many cables and reviews and opinions out there. Looking for similar or slight improvement in sound, but under a few hundred dollars. Is that even possible?   1 meter with XLR terminating both ends.....

Ideas and thoughts much appreciated.

Product specs say your Mac 402 is a fully balanced amp. If your Levinson pre is also fully balanced you can use microphone cables and save a lot of $$$. I use  XLR Mogami W2549 balanced microphone cable between my pre and amp with excellent results. Any EM interference/noise, coloration, cancels out if your gear supports the balanced standard (AES 48). If your pre is not a balanced design then you are left to expensive ICs for tonal controls. Look at my system for details.

Audioquest Thunderbird!!!  Not cheap, but absolutely excellent.  Happy listening.

xlr interconnects.....thanks all. As I expected, nothing in the price range....for a hot minute I thought about the Nordost Blue Heavens..

there is nothing really wrong with my MIT cables. I use the Shotgun speaker cables as well.....and yes they are beyond burned in....say 10 years or so.

What lead to this post initially was the fact that the plastic sleeve over the connector for one channel to the amp was beginning to show signs of physical strain...the amp sits on top of my rack (see pic) and the interconnect is heavy and it hangs down to the pre.....so i repaired the connector,....arranged the able so that the strain is removed.......and I think I may have saved a lot of money if I keep them.

However things like this are always an opportunity to investigate what would best yield an improvement. l thought 2k would be a good starting point. Until then, I will use the MITs...

and thanks all for your thoughts..

so.....for 2-3k what one(s)?
