Connecting an iPad to a USB DAC

Has anyone connected an iPad - with a lightning connection - to the USB input of a DAC?  There is an Apple lightning to Female USB-A adapter - has anyone used this?

I'd like to be able to hear some YouTube items with better audio than from my TV setup.

Many thanks for the confirmation this will work.  I am not expecting wonderful SQ but it will be as good as it can be.

Ordering the part now.

I had good success with an Audioquest Dragonfly - iPad>Camera Adapter>Dragonfly>preamp

Aaugh!  That camera adapter is so expensive and unwieldy. Try this solution that worked beautifully connecting my iPhone 13 lightning to the excellent DAC in my Yamaha CD-S2100.  SMSL has a 192kHz/24bit USB C to optical/coax converter, the PO 100, that uses a XMOS XU316 chip that not only converts USB to SPDIF, but reclocks the phone’s data and electrically isolates the phone from the DAC. There’s even a multicolored LED to indicate the resolution.  And indeed, my Yamaha displays the different Apple Music resolutions of different tracks up to 192/24. It’s about as big as a pack of matches, and gets its power from the phone.  $39 from Amazon. Though the SMSL comes with a USB C cable and a little clip-on USB C to lightning adapter, I would recommend trying the FIIO LT-LT3 dedicated USB C to lightning cable.  More user friendly and sounds a bit better, though it should at $29 on Amazon.
