Another "kinda-newbie" head scratcher

No matter what Phonostage I use, no matter which cartridge or cables, I get an annoying distortion sound from my speakers kind of like the sound of AM in between stations if anyone here is old enough to remember that sound. Doesn't happen on the digital side.

Any ideas?

@ericrhodes1 excellent! Glad to hear you resolved it all.
how’s the sound with the Vibe compared to Parks?

@audphile1

Thank you Sir! I’ll give relocating the unit a try.

Q. Is there any negative reasons for running my turntable (McIntosh MT10) through my primary preamp (McIntosh C2600)?

@gjfalls other than sound quality no. I have to say the MP100 is a fantastic phono stage. I love how it sounds. Have McIntosh fix it. It’s worth keeping.

@audphile1 definitely more analog. 🤣But it doesn't cut out all the pops and clicks like the WaxWing.

@lewm Thank you for your input. I mentioned earlier that my problem was similar but different than OP’s. Similar in that our problems involve a preamp issue.

After further investigation and probing I discovered that the high pitched sound or distortion is in fact audible through the left speaker’s tweeter but not the right speaker.

I have followed this stream of comments and advice given to OP and tried most of at this point, to no avail. At this point I wish my problem was the same as OP’s as he is up and running again. @audphile1 gave great advice that lessened the sound effect by relocating the unit but did not cure it. I will take his final advice which is to send the unit back to McIntosh for repair or replacement.

Thank you guys for your input and advice, I really appreciate it.
