Audio Mirror Wave Tube DAC review by Steve Huff

I became aware of this DAC through Steve’s recent review, and am very interested in it. Please post your thoughts, especially those who own, or have listened to, one.

Thanks,

Tom

Whatever you think of Steve’s credibility as a reviewer, I appreciate his reviewing stuff that doesn’t get much exposure in the big online mags. I was maybe vaguely aware of Audio Mirror before his review, but it wasn’t on my radar.

I see positive reviews as filters for narrowing down my list of products that are worthy of looking into further, not as a green light to go buy them. Thus my post here. It’s hard to put something on one's list, when you are not aware of itwink

vlad is a good guy, earnest and hard working, makes decent stuff from his small operation

Couldnt agree more.

I started with a Tubadour III SE...then a V....then a VI. The III and the V were great Dacs...the VI is in another league. Vlad makes it easy to upgrade with a gracious upgrade/trade-in program. I am surpised his products  don't get more accolades...maybe they will now with the review out.

People who can't swim in the ocean without choking and blubbering should probably find another hobby.

With all due respect, I do not see how you can accurately describe Huff as "measured". The number of times he's gushingly extolled something as his "new reference", only to quickly replace it with another "new reference" has, over time, rendered that concept meaningless. There's no reliable baseline because he's constantly changing out gear. He's entertaining but I can't take his pronouncements seriously.

@stuartk Yeah Huff gushes but I consider that part of the YouTube clickbait thing that anyone who does video reviews has to do. What I meant by measured is that he will go over the limitations of the item reviewed as well as the good points. When I go through his full reviews (both written and video), I have a pretty good idea where the items stands in relationship to other items previously reviewed or in terms of mid-fi, hi-fi etc. The business about his references isn't something I pay attention to because they are 5 figure products which is way more than I ever plan on paying for this hobby. I don't really follow his reviews on the expensive stuff but I could see your criticism if that is something you or others do.
