Another "kinda-newbie" head scratcher

No matter what Phonostage I use, no matter which cartridge or cables, I get an annoying distortion sound from my speakers kind of like the sound of AM in between stations if anyone here is old enough to remember that sound. Doesn't happen on the digital side.

Any ideas?

@audphile1 thanks for the vote of confidence. I totally understand. And I would prefer to use a standard phonopre. It was already 2m away. But being plugged into the same circuit is what I’m certain is the problem. I’m just going to have to run a long cable from the room my modem is in and eliminate the offending device in order to overcome this issue. I’m sure my other equipment will benefit from that course of action as well.

@ericrhodes1 I recommend mesh network instead of running long cable. Shouldn’t interfere with phono stage and you have better coverage around the house.

Thanks for asking the question. I have a similar problem with my phono preamp. However, my sound is no heard through my speakers. It’s a high pitched sound coming from the preamp (McIntosh MP100) itself. I’ve been able to isolate the sound to the preamp. It’s a relatively new purchase that I bought with a new McIntosh MT 10 Turntable…

I’ve read the string here and will try some of the solutions suggested to you. The high pitched sound is barely noticeable but I do hear it, others don’t hear it at all. However, I have always had a keen sense of hearing that hasn’t waned much in my 72 years...The sound stops only when the unit is turned off.
