Going to Japan and buy from Japan

Wife is planning a family trip with kids to Japan in 2027. How and where to buy a new or used Accuphase gear and bring / ship back to US?

i probably need a way to communicate to arrange with a store there in Japan prior?

if you know a place in Japan that can convert voltage to US, please also share.

I question the wisdom in this quest.  The only upside is you save some money.  The potential downside should you ever need service????   I can't imagine too many local retailers wanting to deal with equipment you bought overseas?  Just wondering if the cost savings and shipping/import fee/taxes/tariffs are going to be worth it?  IMHO

Converting the power supply to US voltage is a risky proposition. If you are going to do that, then just buy from one of many Japanese eBay sellers who offer "conversion models" giving you a similar cost savings.

I would not want some unknown tech opening up my Accuphase and tinkering around with its power supply. He might scratch the beautifully painted black chassis screws! LOL

Or use the Japanese 100V model with a high quality step-down converter. But you will always wonder if the converter is detrimental to the sound quality, and then maybe a $1,000 audiophile power cable can magically negate that effect! LOL

Sometimes you have to pay to play. The price of admission. Par for the course.

Unless you travel to Japan regularly, I would not recommend it. Should you need support or to return it. I used to go to Japan every month. That is the better scenario for buying expensive electronics. Even then, I never did it. I would prefer to hop in my car or have my dealer come over to my house.

My rule of thumb on this stuff is that if my purchase just disappeared or broke and I would immediately laugh at my self and say... "now that was stupid"... I will not do it.
