Jay's rooms almost done - getting nervous

My guess is you lead a stress-free environment. Spending your life working with people that are extremely stressed and suffer the physical consequences and I could be wrong.

Awesome system you have.  Your home has very thick walls. That must benefit the sound enormously. Very interesting floor you have, I don't understand the 120 dB noise floor estimate for Jay's new rooms. I have 611s too and they're really nice.

@waynefia Jay is a reseller of high end equipment. I don't understand exactly what arrangement he has with dealers/ manufacturers but he gets very high end, used gear and resells. Likely relieves dealers of very expensive inventory they need to move and I'm sure he gets a good markup while still beating MSRP.

His new thing are these rooms in Texas and the attractive thing is you will be able to audition different brands-whatever he happens to have at the time-in a comparative way. I see the value in that for sure.

I think he is packaging it as an "experience"-you stay a weekend at his place, hang out with him etc. for maybe $3k which is a credit if you buy. I could certainly see myself buying from him after comparative auditions. For me, the "experience" wouldn't be worth it for me-and I don't know if you can audition the gear without that. At any rate, the ability to hear brands that you would never see together and compared against one another seems like a good idea and I wish him well.

Sure Jays rooms will look better once he has them treated and treatments on the windows but to me look like something out of the 90’s. He certainly could have built or trimmed out the ceilings that would have helped with deflections while giving it a custom look. 
I built a golden ratio room. Not to the extent of Jays but also wanted to give it a look that is pleasing. 

I hope it works out for him. Sometimes when you reach the mountain top there is nowhere to go. 
He sure has a nice property though if it doesn’t work out. 

@emergingsoul  Ok, what exactly did Jay promise you to be so gushingly enamored with him?  I haven't heard this kind of infatuation with someone since high school.

@thecarpathian courage is relative. 

I would rather swim 4 miles in ice cold waters than give a one minute speech  in front of more than 2 people (OK, I lied, 2 people is to many for me already)

That said, this guy seems to be an extrovert, he loves the attention and the controversy.
