I agree with you. In some instances this is absolutely the case. And I have many examples in my collection.
But here’s the catch…from Acoustic Sounds product page:
”Technical note: The new remasters were created from 192 kHz/24 bit digital transfers of the original analogue tapes. The catalog is being remastered now to take advantage of the significant advances in mastering technology that have occurred since 1991.”
And I have listened to every remastered version on streaming. It will be most likely the same master as one of those I heard. Yes - cleaned up, padded to 192/24 and stripped off life. It will without any doubt sound cleaner and quieter than the original pressing but I’m willing to bet the remastered version will bore you while the original will convey a lot more energy and emotion. They just messed up with these remasters.
I would love it if Analogue Productions bought the rights and reissued this as full analog version, similar to what they did with Steely Dan. Man that would be cool.
