Is there a better all-in-one streamer/DAC/Integrated Amp under USD 5K?
For driving a pair of small, 4 ohm 86 dB speakers (DALI Menuet SE) for a small to medium size room at low to moderate SPLs, is there a Roon Ready, all-in-one streamer/DAC/Integrated Amp under USD 5K that is likely to perform sonically better than the Gato DIA 250S NPM?
@vvvvvv6 i like the speakers quite a bit and they are as large as i can go in that space. There is likewise very little room for the electronics. (They’re being driven adequately now by an NAD M10 v2, and i just suspect (based on my experience with the NAD m33) that there are better amp/streamer/dacs out there than what NAD is able to do.) |

I’ve owned 3 Hegels in my past and they sound pretty good. In 1 of my systems, I use the Auralic Polaris streaming amp with dac. This sounds better than my prior Hegel integrated amps (up to the 360, doesn’t have the power of the 360), provides many more features/hookups, and a better dac. These don’t come up often for sale and Auralic might not be in business any longer so take that into consideration. |
