Atalante 5's

I am still in the hunt for a new set of speakers, previously considering Vandersteen Treo's (https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/considering-vandersteen-treo), but sort of going cold on those for a few reasons. Talking to a very knowledgeable dealer today about my issues with my current QLN 3's, he strongly recommended I take a look at the Revival line, and specifically the 5's.

Yes, much has already been said about the Atalante's on this site, but let's freshen it up. I have a few big questions:

- I am a low volume listener, 65-70dB, mostly jazz these days. How do these do at low volumes?

- Topmost is, will these overload my 12.5 x 11' room, conspicuously undersized based on Revival's recommendations.

People seem to love the sound, I would be interested to hear from some jazz listeners and low(er) volume listeners to get their impressions.

Thanks.

@ JoeyCastillo, MoFi 888...NOOOO! This is a massive, bass-heavy speaker that would be terrible for a small room.

@vthokie83 Thanks. I think you are right. @joeycastillo @bojack I have heard the Mofi’s and they are good speaks, but yeah, too much bass for my room.

Given that the Studio Electrics are acoustic suspension, I am thinking the bass would not be overdone, even with a 10” woofer. I will talk to the vendor and get his take. Thanks for the feedback.

I spoke with Dave at Studio Electric today and he was clear that the M5 would be overkill for my room. I ordered a set of M4’s. I will keep you posted on my experience.

I spent quite a bit of time discussing my issues with AI yesterday, it can be quite useful if you ask good questions. I am more convinced, at least on paper, that a speaker with more of an acoustic suspension design, and appropriately designed drivers, will be more responsive and linear at lower volumes. I am excited to hear these speakers.
