Humminguru Nova

I’ve assembled more or less a decent analog front end. I have a few hundred records in my collection that consists of new and old vinyl - mostly mint or near mint. Now I have been buying new vinyl recently. I use Knosti Disco Antistat to wash records - one for wash, one for rinse. The records air dry.

Would a Nova be a significant step up from the Knosti? Would it be effective with new vinyl? Any reason I shouldn’t get it?

I’ve been using the Nova for about a week now.
My conclusion so far is-

1. old dirty records with a good amount of gunk and fingerprints must be run thru a thorough manual wash first to remove as much of these contaminants as possible. The Humminguru as a final step is great and super convenient and the record drying is sped up

2. On brand new or mint used vinyl the Nova is a thing of beauty.

3. Only distilled water should be used. While the Small Bottle solution might remove surface tension a d speed up drying, it does leave invisible but audible residue resulting it slightly veiled sound. It’s fine to use a d assist in the process but must be rinsed.

Overall I’m pretty happy with this machine. Time will tell.

I have been reading the exchanges here and keep thinking you guys just need a little more time and experience to get the most out of your HumminGuru.  I respectfully would like to repeat my earlier suggestion that you take the time to read Neil Antinn's book.  If you do you will benefit greatly from the investment in time that it takes you to do so.

HG1 owner. I had it for ~4 months. Use it almost every day. Zero issues. Bought the water dispenser a couple of months ago. Love it. Works flawlessly.

as I got to know the Nova a little better after using it multiple times with both brand new and used records, it is excellent for new vinyl. But used records, especially those featuring fingerprints, stains or other unidentified crap, definitely benefit from a manual wash as the first strep. Nova is no substitute for it. So my initial assessment still stands.
