To All Cable Deniers, 1 Very Simple Question.

"If the copper % is..., would the 2 plugs still sound the...?"  For my purposes, I reject the premise that power cord plugs make or inject ANY "sound" at all, much less any 'sound' that I need to be concerned with...at all.

If copper is copper, and 2 cables have different copper % at their end. Would these 2 cables sound identical?

At what point would the copper % no longer sound identical?

Would a copper cable sound identical to an aluminum cable?

You people claim all cables are the same. Here we know for a fact the cables are indeed different in its copper %. You guys love to prove all cables are the same with your holy "measurement". Can you measure when do cables start to differ?"

Again, the question I posed is very simple but also somewhat deep. People that claim all cables sound the same would imply the % of copper content is irrelevant. In the initial post, I asked does 60% sound identical to 98% copper?

0% copper vs 98% copper? 

Gold vs copper? 

So why do I say this question is somewhat deep? Because each cable has 2 ends (2 plugs). Whatever difference there is, you have to multiply it by 2. Because 2 ends.

However, a system doesn’t have 1 power cable. Usually it has 3 power cables, 6 ends. So?

So.... 30% copper x 6

VERSUS

98% copper x 6

I read through the thread but no denier really answered the question, does the difference in copper content still make 2 different cables sound identical?

One thing worth mentioning is, a plug is essentially an extension of the wire, so that you could plug into the outlet. It is still a wire in a different form, a necessary form."

I am empowered to agree with you.

I think l need a very large glass of water (with some copper or something stronger in it) after reading that last lot. The original discussion has meandered from its original intention if the OP and his motive is being called into question.

l have felt the same following this discussion and now perplexed.😕 

Why has this thread gone on so long? I was thinking of contributing but got confused as to which side the original poster was on.
l see no further use in saving this discussion…… l’m done reading any further. Any new comments l will never see. This thread will be gone in seconds from my “watch list”

I go with the plug that the manufacturer includes with the piece of equipment.  It works well and sounds good in my experience.  I’ve tried more expensive cables.  They look cool and make solid connections which is good if it’s a cable I unplug occasionally but I rarely do.  I haven’t been able to detect a sound difference but my old guy ears aren’t what they used to be.  Maybe my dog could but I no longer have a dog.  I know friends that switch out the power cords and they tell me it sounds better to them.  Good for them.  I don’t try to dissuade them from doing so.  Upgrading equipment is a fun part of the hobby.  If you switch out cables and you’re happy, I’m happy for you.  As Hans says, enjoy the music.  

Once, for shits and giggles, we took several different quality cables, ranging from a pair of Audioquest cables (they were like $500, so not crazy stupid cables, but this was almost 20 years ago) to literally barbed wire (which we spliced into a run of lamp cord and wrapped in a roll of electrical tape for “insulation”, and not a one of us could tell the difference in sound from the Audiquest alone.

For us,that shut down this argument forever.  The only thing I make sure of now is that it’s a well made, well terminated cable that is insulated with something better than electrical tape and I’ve never looked back. 

I also figure that if the manufacturer of my $2500 CD player and $3000 energizer, etc. include a set of cables (power and/or interconnects), then those should be good enough for me.
