What’s your best/favorite version of Gloria

For the Music Nerds

A recent VC video on YT sent me to the Van Morrison section of my library. This afternoon while listening to Too Long In Exile, I heard him doing Gloria w/ John Lee Hooker which I didn’t have any recollection of. But what a song. We got the original, Shadows Of The Night, Jimi, Patti, U2. So many more.

What’s your best/favorite or out there version?

Patti Smith

Any song starting with, "Jesus died for somebody's sins, but not mine..." is going to make you take notice. I haven't heard what Van Morrison thinks of Patti's version.

Nice. I've been debating whether to get that. I've got the Speakers Corner version and like most of their releases it's sounds really good but I'm a sucker for the reissues.

@slaw Does the 50th Anniversary LP include the live cover of “My Generation” that was on the Patti Smith remasters on CD?
