cantilever is not straight

The cantilever on my Lyra Kleos is not exactly straight; it is angled slightly to one side, towards the record spindle.  It was retipped once, along with replacing the cantilever, by Soundsmith.  I align to the cantilever, not the body.  I have never been able to successfully use anti-skate with this setup ( Thorens TD-850, Origin Live Conquest arm) for long, because some records will hang up and start endlessly repeating, a problem that doesn't happen if the anti-skate is not engaged.

Should I be concerned?  Will this affect the sound?

The direction you describe the cantilever deviation (towards the spindle) would be the direction that could be invoked by excessive antiskating forces.  Since your experience is that you cannot apply the Origin Live antiskating weight without inducing skipping I would be concerned there is an always a force present in a similar direction that the antiskating mechanism is adding too when applied.  Check that the table is level as a first step.  I would then want to have your arm professionally examined to determine if there is something binding on its rotation either the internal wiring or the bearings themselves.  I had to send one of my OL arms back to the factory for a recheck a few years ago and it was fairly cost effective and a rapid turnaround.

In addition to the above, both excellent suggestions, if you have a test record, any will do try playing the tracking bands.  How does the cartridge track?  If it tracks OK, it is OK.
