Looking for a DAC $2500-$4000

Okay the digital part of my 2.1 system consists of a Line Magnetic 845 Premium Tube Amp, Tekton Encore Speakers, Cambridge CXN V2 Streamer, and an Oppo 205.

I'm running the Cambridge through the Oppo 205 to use it's DAC.

The Cambridge has a nice DAC that has been described as an every man's Streamer. It has a musical more analog sound to it.  The Oppo's DAC is more detailed but also sounds more analytical or clinical.

What I am looking for is something that can be both on a higher level.

The reviews I've read about the Musical Fidelity M6x DAC ($2500) seems to be what I'm looking for.

Do any of you fine lovers of Streaming have any suggestions that I might add to my list to research? In the $2500 to $4000 range. Thanks for the help.

NuPrime Evolution DAC-2. Honest, highly resolving and musically engaging in an unforced "getting out of the way"-manner. Not to say it's laidback sounding, nor the opposite, but just a balanced presentation and dynamically uninhibited.

Maybe it's a DAC that doesn't "impress" the first time around, but it won me over with its naturalness, insight and ability to "morph" depending on the source material.

Have had the LTA Aero DAC for 3 weeks, outstanding so far.  The DAC it replaced cost double the Aero.  Build quality is fantastic, it’s an R2R Tube so won’t be everyone’s cup of tea.  ‘D highly recommend it.

I also have the Aero for a few weeks now & just passed the 400 hr mark. Right out of the box I was impressed with the GE JAN12sn7’s. LTA typically burns in their products for at least 168 hours to ensure they sound excellent out of the box. Plus a 60 day trial period.(no brainer) It did sound it best @ about 350 hrs & it’s sensitive to tube rolling depending on your flavor of sound. I have an Excalibur USB connected to my Wiim Ultra & I’m awaiting on delivery of a Audiences front row USB. Highly recommend!

No affiliation, just an happy consumer.

OP, if you can find a used T+A DAC 200 around your budget, that's been my favorite DAC and you can of probably find a used on in your price range or close.  Very resolving and realistic sounding DAC if that's your cup of tea.  May reveal flaws in your other components though so YMMV!

@danmar123 are you running a standard wiim ultra ?  Or do you have the upgraded power supply from Teddy Pardo?  Been curious on this upgrade myself don't mean to hijack the thread but have been curious vs the standard wiim.  Some say the DAC becomes solid after upgrade and the streamer section can then compete with higher priced units
