I have been extremely pleased with my Laiv Harmony DAC. To my tastes, it hits all of the notes in terms of clarity, accuracy, and overall tonal quality. In my system, it won out against the Denafrips Terminator 15th, McIntosh MDA200, and PSAudio DirectStream Mk2. Obviously I didn't go to great lengths to test every option out there, but the Harmony was a very clear winner for me above the others tested, and the least expensive of the group as well.
Looking for a DAC $2500-$4000
Okay the digital part of my 2.1 system consists of a Line Magnetic 845 Premium Tube Amp, Tekton Encore Speakers, Cambridge CXN V2 Streamer, and an Oppo 205.
I'm running the Cambridge through the Oppo 205 to use it's DAC.
The Cambridge has a nice DAC that has been described as an every man's Streamer. It has a musical more analog sound to it. The Oppo's DAC is more detailed but also sounds more analytical or clinical.
What I am looking for is something that can be both on a higher level.
The reviews I've read about the Musical Fidelity M6x DAC ($2500) seems to be what I'm looking for.
Do any of you fine lovers of Streaming have any suggestions that I might add to my list to research? In the $2500 to $4000 range. Thanks for the help.

Whole lotta discussion in the attached link. Many of the DACs discussed should fall into your price range if you buy used. I ended up picking up a used Mojo Audio Evo Pro. Very nice, sounds terrific. Keep an eye on the Mojo Audio website as they usually have trade-ins available. https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/six-dac-comparison

Yo I was recommended the M6 by upscale “LUV those Guy” but after looking up reviews for 2 days straight the M6 seemed mediocre , the gustard R26II just released weeks ago , I have it on the way , out of dozens of reviews at least 5 or then were head over heels in love w the R26 , also $1650 , go search them , outstanding giant killer reviews for th gustard R2R 👊🏾 |
