I have narrowed down choices to Mofi Ultradeck, Rega Planar 6 and Technics SL-1200GR2.
Back in 2018 I demoed the Ultradeck, 1200GR (original), and Rega P6.
I’ll start off by saying there are no wrong answers here. All great tables.
Now before people ask, this was not a reviewers version of testing. All three had different carts, and the P6 was in a different system entirely. These were buyer demos, a normal shopping experience. Not some complex double blind shootout for a publication.
Anyway, I came home with the Ultradeck and I still have it. Any time I’ve reached out to Mofi for service or questions they’ve been quick to respond and service levels were above and beyond.
Now having said all that, I am actively trying to save for a new table. Likely a 1200G or VPI Prime X. At the moment I’m leaning towards 1200G, but ask later and I might flip flop that, lol.
above all, Rega has the best arm and has great detail. Technics was the most forward sounding and would potentially be the easiest to own. Mofi was the smoothest and warmest sounding, which was exactly what I was looking for at the time. That’s what I remember from those demos years ago.
