Roll it to the curb and put a "Take me, despo for a loving home" sign on it.
Get the wharfedale or something.
Need some advice/help on my Triton 3's. My 12-year-old Triton 3s started making crackling noises out of both speakers. No complaints as I've enjoyed them all these years.
When I pull out the AC power cords and run them without the subwoofers, so only the tweeter and midrange are in use, there is no noise. Called GE customer service, and they no longer have parts for the original 3. I can send in the amp and crossover for repair, but the cost, including shipping, will be approximately $600. and that assumes my not screwing up the removal and replacement. The repair option doesn't appear to make sense as the amps are 13 years old and could have another component part failure soon enough.
I see my options as running the Triton 3s without the built-in sub and getting an external sub (like the SVS 1000 Pro $600) or just buying new speakers. My speaker budget would allow for something like the Dali Oberon 7s or Wharfedale Linton 85s.
Has anyone run the Tritons without the built-in sub but with an external sub? Or am I better off just getting new speakers?
All thoughts/advice are greatly appreciated.
