@billstevenson on my list. I have a link
Humminguru Nova
I’ve assembled more or less a decent analog front end. I have a few hundred records in my collection that consists of new and old vinyl - mostly mint or near mint. Now I have been buying new vinyl recently. I use Knosti Disco Antistat to wash records - one for wash, one for rinse. The records air dry.
Would a Nova be a significant step up from the Knosti? Would it be effective with new vinyl? Any reason I shouldn’t get it?

“I think the manual step with Knosti might still be beneficial for really dirty old records…not sure. Will have to test it and see.” For really dirty records, run them through Nova twice. I don’t use any solution in my Degritter, distilled water and ‘timed’ cleaning cycle is all it takes. I am hoping @arafiq chimes in to share his direct experience with Nova. |
@lalitk cool. Will try. |
I have tried running dirty records through my Nova twice and it does not clean them as well as my VPI can do it. Not even close. FWIW, I have a friend who has a Degritter and he has found the same thing, for really dirty records ultrasonic is not as effective as mechanical cleaning. I am sure that is why HumminGuru just introduced a cleaning machine to use as a first step. US is terrific as a final clean. But it has limitations. |
@billstevenson I don’t see the machine you’re referring to. They did introduce a new record cleaner but it looks like my Knosti or spin clean. Same concept. |
