Only those with "golden ears" can tell the difference between power cords A and B. For the rest Home Depot is fine.
Shorter length power cable recommendations?
Hello friends -
Recently I added a Furman Elite-15 PF i 13-Outlet Linear Filtering AC Power Source to my system. I was previously using an inexpensive surge protector for all of my equipment.
Since removing the surge protector and following the input recommendations for where to plug in components I have noticed a significant improvement in listening to records on my Sansui SR-717 turntable Just an overall improvement in the sound quality. Other components continue to sound fine. The real purpose of the Furman, in my use case was to get rid of the less than desirable surge protector.
My issue is that my power cords are all very long for my components and I have a bit of a spaghetti mess behind my system.
I am located in the US, I am using Cambridge Audio components - would you have any recommendations for power cord brands that are short? Like around 2 feet in length? Ideally a power cable would cost less than $100.
I do plan on making changes to my system over the coming year - for instance I have an Eversolo T8 streamer coming next week, but I think as a general rule the distance between my current or future components will remain the same as will the plug inputs.
A response - just use zip ties is also perfectly appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to respond and I appreciate any comments you have!

I couldn’t find the power cord that @audphile1 mentioned but this popped up instead "Audiocrast HPC01 HiFi Power Cable, 3.3ft" of which I have no experience. My main concern is inadvertently purchasing something that’s not electrically sound and putting your equipment and personal safety at risk. Not saying this would necessarily be the case here but do your research. I’m particularly fond of this one https://www.thecableco.com/cables/mojo-digital-power-cord.html which can be ordered in a 3-foot length starting at $175 and I also have some of these which are a bit pricier https://www.thecableco.com/cables/reference-mains-ac-power-cord.html for $395 but live up to expectations and Rega supplies them with their top-of-the-line components. One thing to keep in mind is that you don’t want any cable in your system to be so short and tight that it creates stress on the male and female connectors and some slack acts as strain relief and keeps your connections secure. |
@faustuss I pasted a link up above to the BOGO sale. Here’s a review as well
