I purchased the Innuos Stream 1 with the Phoenix USB module, which lists for $4950, and I think it is great; I must note that I also purchased the LPS1 power supply with it, which increases the price further. The Stream 1 provides excellent sound quality, and it works with Tidal Connect as well as having a superb app in Innuos Sense. I have played music from the integral USB port and the Phoenix USB module, and the Phoenix module makes a significant improvement in the sound quality, in my system especially in the sound stage and imaging. I previously was using an iPad Pro for streaming.

Over $5K Aurender W20SE... I have one. I think the new N50 probably is the best, Sound quality is first and foremost... secondarily build quality, app ease of use and lastly great support... including you can open up your streamer and have their technical staff troubleshoot it. Under $5K... Find a discounted or used Aurrender. I have used Aurlic, Grimm, Bluesound, Linn, Rose... and Aurrender wins. |
Best is very open-ended. Because the streamer is the part I personally interact with the most, there are numerous of factors to consider. For example, there is UI, the software stability, supported services, sound quality, output connections, customer support, . . . What is most important to you when judging best? I don't have experience with many streamers, but my best guess would be something in the Arender line that fits your price points. |
You said “streamer”, so I assume you are talking about a streamer ( a.k.a., player, Roon endpoint, renderer) and not a combination server/streamer or streamer/DAC. In the neighborhood of $5K ($ 5,350.00 USD), I have been very happy with the sound of streamed Tidal, Qobuz, and locally stored FLAC files managed by Roon and played through my Sonore Signature Rendu SE Deluxe (link). |
