Would like company.

I’m a friendly very young minded 86 year old (as you can determine by my posts here on A’gon. My problem is I’m not very mobile, great difficulty traveling,  I would love to share my company and high end system with a like minded person from this forum. I live in  Nassau county on Long Island.

@rvpiano,

Would love to , brother, but alas, I am way down on the west coast.  I too have a few friends "into music", but not audiophiles.  They gasp at the merest mention of paying anything more than a few hundred dollars for a setup.  But I have managed to gather them together once a month or two for an evening of listening.  A few really respond to the enhanced experience, but most just want to chitchat, socialize, eat and drink wine, so it's a mixed bag.  Real audiophilia is a very rare condition .  Good luck finding your buds, you have a lot to share!

I’m pretty new to the forum but I’ve enjoyed your posts and am glad you make them. I’m 60. My dad is 82 and pretty immobile but, being in the same town, we still manage to hang out and listen to music from time to time. (Puts all the arguments about “systems” in perspective).  I am in Alabama.  If I lived nearby, you’d have a buddy.

Hope you’re able to connect with someone nearby.  One of the reasons I’m spending time online focused on music and AV equipment is because most of my friends and family aren’t that interested.  I’ve connected with a couple of like minded guys buying and selling equipment online and we stay connected online.

I  had lost contact with my only audio friend and initiator long ago.

The only one i knew after that  owned a good system pieces, but badly installed in his living room and with no optimization, anyway, at this time i was not so well informed either i was just beginning my learning process curve...We loose contact after my retirement...

I prefered the sound of my low cost system even if his own has way more potential (Magnepan), this exemplified for me the necessity of optimization for any system at any price...

It was great enjoyment to be able to communicate about music and gear...Mostly music though...

Since my retirement i miss people, i wish you will be able to break isolation...

I wish you the best and some positive surprise...

All we have is humanity...Audio matter way less...
