What cables can lower my forward treble.

I have a Hegel Viking CD player and Cary SLP 05 pre amp and  Pilnius SB-301 amp and Synergistic Research Foundation xl wires and cables. What could I replace in cables to lower hi frequency energy.

Try some Cardas Golden Cross ICs.  If that doesn't get you there, add some Golden Cross SCs.  Cardas hasn't made them for years, but there is a steady trade in this model on ebay and the audio sale sites.  They are always sought after so the good part is that if they don't work out for you, you can resell with minimal to no loss.  See also the thread on this model here--there was a recent post from another convert to the GC club.

While different cables do have specific sonic characteristics, you shouldn’t be fixing your sound with cables.

Acoustic treatments and positioning are your most powerful tools. Solving treble issues with cables was, for me, a fool's errand.

Forward treble should be treated at the source, not through cables. You want to swap out the offending component until they sound perfect. Then start working on cables and power cords.

Try Veritas. It does not add warmth, but it makes high-end notes smooth and liquid without compromising detail. I have Optimus (I²S) and Magnus (XLR).

I also tried the Cardas Clear digital (USB) cable; while it smoothed the high-frequency notes, it compromised dynamics and softened the low-end response.

I never expected cables could alter sound characteristics to this extent, but I am now convinced.
