In your case a picture won’t help.
but in case of OP it might help understand the potential root cause. 
 

Also… SR Foundation, when I tried them in my system, sounded brighter than I can tolerate. If I’m not mistaken there is silver in these cables. 
So that’s potentially one of the reasons.

If your amp has tone controls, use it or get a Schii Lokius EQ and adjust to taste.

I just purchased a Hegel Viking CD player. I am breaking it in and at about 100 hours. It is vocal forward and the trebel is not bright but to close for my comfort. Looking for ideas to tame it.
