Magnus Audio?

Anyone have experience or impressions of the Magnus Audio amplifiers? They look like really well done, almost textbook solid state designs but are often described as having a little bit of a tube sound as well. I am totally ignorant of them, even though they are highly regarded and have been around for a long time.

Any users out there? What speakers are you pairing them with, and how is the result?

small low key company in so cal... good stuff... high level performance without the premium price tag of pass labs krell levinson and that ilk

Magnus Audio is the solid state division of its sister company, Canary Audio.  I’ve owned the Class A Magnus MA-200 for several years.   It replaced my Class A tube monoblocks.

. . . described as having a little bit of a tube sound

Somebody posted that comment about the MA-200.  Sort of - but not really.

Brian @Magic Mastering Garden has a Magnus MA-150.

Both Magnus and Canary are repped by JM Sound in Redondo Beach, CA.  Joe is great to deal with.

Results: excellent.   Virtual System_here.

@jjss49 Thank you, that was my initial assumption but you never know.

@steakster Thanks, great info there. I was not aware of the Canary connection. I am adding Magnus to my list of things to research more, since the opportunity to build a second system may be in my near future.
