I have pretty expensive speaker cables that I liked ($6,000) and I recently got hold of cheap Van den Hul Clearwater cables ($150). I was surprised at how good they sound - actually better than my expensive cables. They are perfectly balanced, now I just enjoy listening to music instead of analysing. I have an impression that expensive cables tweak the sound often, and, if lucky, you may actually find the perfect sound you were looking for. Back to my case, I have a tube amplifier and Franco Serblin Accordo speakers, and I was wondering, perhaps thinner less complex cables can simply be a better match in terms of capacitance, for example. Resistance of thick wires is probably negligent in my case when my cables are just 2 metres long.
